William Huerta of Salida, was born June 24, 1938 in Brawley, CA and passed Thursday, May 24th in Modesto. He was 79.
William enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, serving two tours of duty, and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class in 1966. He worked as a warehouse manager for Almaden Vineyards for 33 years.
William enjoyed listening to rock ‘n roll music, traveling, watching western movies, and panning for gold. He was very hardworking, caring, and fun to be around. His family and friends will remember him as someone who was always so happy and loved joking around.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Ysidro and Matilde Viramontes, son, David Chess, and sister, Jennie Wright. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Juanita Huerta of Salida; children, Lorena (Ernie) Medina of Salida, William Huerta Jr. of San Jose, and Vincent (Roberta) Day of Tollhouse; grandchildren, Anaissa and Ernie Medina of Salida, Ashley McMahan of Lemoore, Amber and Cody Day of Tollhouse, 8 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Ruben Lopez of Lynwood, Carmela Huerta of Kerman, Cecil Viramontes and Cecilia Morquecho, both of San Joaquin, and Johnny Viramontes and Manuel Viramontes, both of San Jose.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 7th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 pm, at Franklin and Downs Funeral Chapel, 1050 McHenry Ave, Modesto. The funeral mass will be held Friday, June 8th, at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Rd, Modesto, followed by interment at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Rd, Santa Nella.
