Walsh James Conmy

            Dr. Walsh Conmy of Modesto, California passed away at the age of 88 into the eternal presence of his heavenly father on April 17, 2021.  He was born in Fargo North Dakota to James Francis Xavier Conmy and Mary Macella Conmy.  He was one of five children and is survived by his brothers Patrick and James Conmy.  Dr. Conmy is preceded in death by his son Blake, sister Ellen Cornwell and brother Dr. Michael Conmy.  He is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 64 years; sons Walsh (Toni), Peter (Vickie), Philip (Jen) and daughters Malaney Conmy-Miller(Roger), Beth Ann and 6 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild.

            Dr. Walsh Conmy graduated Valedictorian from high school and during this time he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  Dr. Conmy graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1955 with a degree in Engineering.  He pursued a career in the Navy and Naval Reserve as a Submariner for a total of 26 years.  He served on the USS Remora and the USS Redfish. During his service he received the National Defense and China Sea medals for Bravery.  Dr. Conmy was also a liaison recruiter for the Naval Academy. His final rank in the Navy was Commander.  After the Navy Dr. Conmy received a full scholarship to UCSF Dental School where he graduated in 1968 as an Orthodontist and moved to Modesto California with his family.  He opened offices in Modesto and Turlock. 

            Dr. Conmy was very involved with the community.  He was the president of the Modesto Symphony and involved with the Rotary and Kiwanis Club.  Dr. Conmy loved the outdoors, hiking, golf, tennis, skiing and he coached youth soccer.   His legacy will be the many beautiful smiles he left behind. 

            A private burial service will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Friday April 30,2021
