Treva Teeples

October 31, 1938 ~ August 1, 2022 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Treva Ophelia Teeples
October 31, 1938- August 1, 2022 Modesto, CA. Surrounded by love, Treva Teeples
passed away peacefully on August 1, 2022 at the age of 83.
Treva was born in Hatch, New Mexico to William Magee and Myrtle (Irvin) Magee. Along
with her family, which included 4 brothers and 6 sisters they left New Mexico and moved to
Cortez, Colorado. Leaving Cortez, they ended up in Weedpatch, California in the early 1940’s.
The family lived all around California, depending where the work was for father William and
oldest brother Cecil. The Magee family eventually settled in Modesto in 1946.
Treva attended Shackelford Elementary School and Mark Twain Junior High School,
both in Modesto.
In 1952, Treva would meet the man she would be married to for the next 70 years.
Meeting Marvin Teeples in a local diner in July, the two fell head over heels for one another and
married in December, just 6 months later. In October of 1953, at 14 years old, she welcomed
her first son Marvin Dale Teeples Jr. Her daughter Brenda followed 16 months later. Three
years after that, another daughter, Karen was born, then son Steven. Lastly, her son Darren was
born in 1966.
Treva, or “Grandma” as everyone called her, even her children has a huge family. With
her 5 children, she has an incredible group- 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 7
great great grandchildren. Treva loved all of her kids and grandkids in a very special “grandma”
way. Her children, grandchildren and the rest of the family loved her so much. Everyone in their
family took care of her and offered help when she needed them the most. Christmas was
especially crowded as we all had to be at grandma and grandpa’s house and no place else.
Imagine 40+ people in their little 2 bedroom home. It is where everyone wanted to be. She loved
everyone being together.
Treva is preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Magee, her 8 siblings,
Kamora, Cecil, Edward “Chic” Jackson, Mozelle, Leona, Vivian, Arnold and Jesse. Sadly, Treva
and Marvin lost their daughter Karen (Applegate) in 2012. Their eldest son Marvin Teeples (JR)
passed away just last year, 2021.
Treva is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Marvin Teeples, her children,
Brenda(Harris)Teeples, Steven (Sandra) Teeples all of Modesto. Her son Darren (Andrea)
Teeples of Turlock, daughter-in-law Judi (JR)Teeples and sister Wanda Farris all of Modesto.
A service will be held for Treva at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at the Empire
