Theresa J Doyle

Theresa Josephine Doyle, 91, of Modesto, CA passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 while residing at Bethel Assisted Living in Modesto. Mrs. Doyle was born in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, in the town of Caspian. Her parents were the caretakers of the Duc D’ Abruzzi Lodge where they also resided. Her father later became an iron ore miner and the family moved into their own home. After graduating from Stambaugh High School in Caspian, she entered the Nursing program at Chicago Masonic Hospital to pursue her calling to care for the infirmed and disabled. She obtained her RN designation with honors and was employed by the Chicago Cancer Research Hospital. While working in Chicago, she met her husband, Terry, and married in her hometown in 1955. She and Terry enjoyed family life and celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in November 2019.

She was never so happy as when she was a homemaker and raising small children. When she wasn’t volunteering at her parish school or church, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking for family holidays. She and Terry were instrumental in founding the Holy Family Catholic Church in Modesto.

Everyone whose life was touched by her will remember her quiet kindness, generosity and tender caring spirit.

She is survived by her three daughters, Margery Fox, Elizabeth Bailey, and Kathleen Van Nes, along with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Though the world is a poorer place without her, she has passed on to her joyful reward in Heaven, and the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Rosary: 1:30-4:00PM, Thursday March 11th at Franklin and Downs McHenry Chapel.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM, Friday March 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church (Modesto).
