On Saturday, October 17, 2020 in Modesto, CA in the morning Terrence Joseph Doyle, age 91, died. Terry is survived by his loving spouse Theresa Doyle, daughters Margery Fox, Elizabeth Bailey, and Kathleen Doyle.
Terry was born in Chicago, IL, USA in 1929 to Catholic Irish American parents. He had one sister Mary Doyle. At age 3, his mother died, and at age 13 his father died. Both Terry and his sister Mary were raised by their biological Aunt Mary Corieta, who was a Catholic nun. At age 16 Terry and his sister moved to their own apartment and went to work. Terry helped fix and sell sewing machines in his Aunt Lucy’s Sewing Machine family business. He quickly became a successful business and salesman.
Terry served in the US Army as a Military Policeman in the Commander Directed Investigation Unit, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged.
Terry returned to civilian life, and he earned a degree in Business Administration at De Paul University. He continued on in sales after graduation. Soon after through friends, he met a local Italian Catholic Registered Nurse Theresa Peruzzi. After eight months of dating, they were married in 1955, and they were together until Terry’s death in 2020. Terry and Theresa had five children: Mary, Margery, Dana, Elizabeth, and Kathleen. Terry loved his family. In 1972, Terry drove his family in a wood paneled Ford Station Wagon across the USA from Illinois to California for a career opportunity with A & W Soda in sales. In California the Cristofano family, which was an extended family, awaited their arrival. Together the Doyles and Cristofanos would frequently visit Carmel and Monterey Beaches on the Pacific Ocean.
In Modesto, CA Terry raised his five children with Theresa. There they attended Our Lady of Fatima Church. As the community and children grew, Terry continued to be an amazing father and husband. He worked hard, provided well, loved his family and church. Terry and Theresa helped found Holy Family Catholic Church in Modesto, CA, and he was the Grand Knight in Knights of Columbus.
Many good memories of Terry Doyle will always be with us. The most consistent memory is one of love and encouragement.
The rosary will be at Franklin and Downs on Wednesday, 10-28-20 at 6:00 PM, and the funeral will be at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, 10-29-20 at 10:00 AM.
