Ronald Earl Turner passed away at his home on Saturday, March 26th at the age of 89. He was born February 14, 1933 in Chicago, IL to parents Frank and Helen Turner. In 1952, Ron joined the U.S. Air Force and traveled to California, being stationed at various air bases. During his service, he met the love of his life, Jacqueline Dias and they were soon married.
Ron and Jackie settled in Modesto and he found work with Gallo Winery. He worked for them for over 28 years, retiring as Cellar Manager. The couple moved to their ranch in Hughson in the mid 1970s where they tended an almond orchard, contracting for Blue Diamond Nut Co.
Ron is remembered for his strong work ethic, relaxed attitude, and gentle nature. He could fix anything electrical or mechanical and had a tool for almost any project. With his family, Ron enjoyed bowling, going out to the lake, and trips to Reno. Ron had a warm heart and enjoyed caring for the cats and dogs who found their way to the ranch. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He touched so many and is truly missed.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Robert Allen Turner, and two siblings. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Turner, grandson, Levi Turner (Navaz), and many more dear family and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson.
