Phyllis Cusenza was born in Hoisington, Kansas to Tom and Hazel Taylor. Phyllis, her Mother, Step-father, and two sisters moved to Modesto in 1939 where she attended school and graduated from Modesto High. On September 10, 1950 she married Anthony “Tony” J. Cusenza. Phyllis was an instrumental support to Tony in his dental career. She was an active member of the Stanislaus County Dental Auxiliary where she served in many official capacities. She enjoyed knitting, walking with her friends, and playing bridge and tennis. But, nothing made her happier than being with her granddaughter.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Tony, her parents and many dear friends. Phyllis was a loving and devoted mother to daughters, Joanna (Marian) and Mary Lou, and granddaughter, Eimile. She leaves behind two sisters Patrica Tonge and Marianne Messina and half-siblings Jo Ranae, Mary, Mickey, Sue, Tom, Shawn and Ann.
Services are scheduled as follows: Wednesday Oct. 10 at Franklin and Downs, Viewing 4PM – 7PM, Rosary 7PM; Funeral Mass Thurs. Oct. 11, 10:30AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, reception to follow.
