It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margarita Ortega, age 89, on June 7, 2020. She was born on November 22, 1930 in Riverbank, California to Julian and Refugio.
Margarita married her beloved husband, Tomas Ortega and lovingly raised two daughters Magdalena and Sandra. She loved her family and instilled in her daughters strong values and a compassion for others. She was a loving grandmother to Vida, whom she cherished and was exceedingly proud of. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Among her many talents, Margarita loved to cook, was highly skilled at designing and sewing beautiful garments, created artistic quilts, gifted at crocheting, and always enjoyed a challenging puzzle. She never allowed her battle with severe rheumatoid arthritis to suppress her kind spirit or her determination to overcome years of painful discomfort.
Margarita is survived by her husband Tomas; her children, Magdalena and Sandra; her grandchild, Vida; her sister and husband, Delfina and Joe Martinez; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Julian and her mother, Refugio; her sisters, Sarah, Mary, and Lupe; and brothers, Julian jr., Everett, and Peter.
