Marcos N. Zapien was born in Modesto, CA to Hilario and Audenciana Zapien and went to his rest at age 92. Marcos was married to Eleanor Marcella Zapien in 1954. Together they had 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Marcos retired after 45 years with Tri Valley Growers as a Maintenance Mechanic. He was well known for being pro-active, keeping him in good shape throughout his entire life. He was an inspiration to all who met him and proved to be an excellent, loving father and grandfather. Marcos was young at heart and a family warrior who loved his entire family. He was a tenderhearted, giving soul and a hard worker throughout his life. He was selfless to all and a good provider to his family, and a hero in the eyes of his children.
Marcos is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor in 1999 and two grandchildren, Larry Zapien Jr. and Marina Duque. He leaves behind his 7 beloved children: Richard Zapien, Mark Zapien, Lydia Zapien, all from Modesto; Larry Zapien from Salida; Delmira Zapien and Michael Zapien from San Jose; and Marcos Zapien from Stockton. Four brothers and four sisters; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will begin Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home – 1050 McHenry Ave, Modesto, CA
