Modesto resident, Lorraine Mora passed away Friday, September 10th at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 8, 1934 to parents Lirio Reynosa and Guadalupe Dominguez in Modesto, California. Little did she know, the boy she met in elementary school would be the love of her life, John Mora; they were married 64 years.
Lorraine was a committed wife and mother and worked at the Tri-Valley cannery. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Churches, and participated in the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed cooking (she made the best pies), shopping, but loved spending time with her family most of all. She was very devoted to her family and her faith. She was a warrior and advocate for the Blessed Mother, always encouraging those around her to pray the rosary. Her strong beliefs guided her in never passing judgement and seeing the good in everyone, friends or strangers. Lorraine’s loving and giving nature resonated throughout her family and her legacy lives on in them.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Rosie and Ruth. She is survived by her loving husband, John Mora; their children, Jeanette Mora (Arthur), Theresa Bocanegra (Jesse), John Mora, Jr. (Diane), Jeff Mora (Kelly), Steven Mora (Lorraine), and Thomasita Hackett (Joe); 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen, Sophie, Joe, and Linda; and many dear family and friends.
A Vigil will be held Wednesday, September 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Ave, in Modesto. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 505 W. Granger Ave, in Modesto, followed by interment at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, 1141 Scenic Rd, in Modesto.
