On July 5 the world lost a great and Godly man.
Lawrence Greenfield was born on October 28, 1938 in Safford, Arizona in a chicken feed silo to Elmer and Janie Greenfield.
Growing up, he lived in Arvin, California and worked in agriculture. In February 1960, he had a life-changing experience when he decided to go to church with his future brother-in-law, and that night gave his heart to the Lord.
On Dec 4, 1962 Lawrence married the love of his life, Stella. Their first daughter, Frances, was born in 1964; in 1967, they were blessed with another daughter, Nancy. In 1971 Lawrences' dream came true when they welcomed their son, Steven.
In 1984 the wonderful world of grandkids began with the birth of their first grandchild Anthony; followed by Angela, Debra, Barbara, Lisa, Cressa, Misty, Jesse (deceased), and Sarah. The birth of many great-grandchildren added to their joy.
Dad and Mom spent many years and traveled many miles fulfilling his calling as a minister, Sunday School teacher, young people's leader, evangelist, and pastor. If you wanted to see dad get excited just mention a revival!
Larry, as he was known to many at Scenic Hospital, retired after 5 years of service in housekeeping.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, one grandson, and three great-grandchildren.
Dad will always be cherished and never forgotten by his beloved Stella, the daughters he loved, Frances (Sal) Corona, Nancy Hawkins and of course, his dream come true, son Steven. His grandchildren, who adored him, will teach his great-grandchildren of his legacy of his rock-solid faith in God, kindness, wisdom, humor, amazing storytelling and, of course, how he grew the most delicious tasting tomatoes in the world. He is also survived by his two brothers, Leroy and Cecil, many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and his devoted church family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, McHenry Chapel, 1050 McHenry Ave, in Modesto. The funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. at Full Gospel Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1401 Service Rd, in Ceres, with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, in Hughson.
