Keith Elwyn Hootman

Keith Elwyn Hootman, only child of Guy and Myrtle Hootman passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Dec. 30, 2017. He was 78 years old.
Keith was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifelong Christian and he would share his faith with whoever he met. He ministered to prisoners in California prisons as a Volunteer Prison Chaplain for 15 years. He was a member of Brethren Community Fellowship Church.
He was a Landscape Contractor. He loved traveling with his family and seeing God's creation. He enjoyed writing poetry and visiting nurseries. He would always know the botanical name of plants. He liked to read, especially the comic strips.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Iris, and his children, Cindy Davis (Kurt), Heidi Shuman (Derek), and Alan Hootman; and his grandchildren, Alyssa Shuman, Justin Hootman, Rob Davis, Mike Davis & Darin Davis, and one first cousin, Charles (Leona) Miller. He is also survived by his sisters in law, Cleyone Pfeifer and Effie Collins; brother in law, Larry Thompson (Peggy).
Franklin & Downs Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hootman Family. Services will be held at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Ave. in Modesto on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00am, burial will follow at Wood Colony Cemetery.
