Kathleen Ann Hanson, 71, passed away Friday, October 19th with her family at her side. She was born July 18, 1947 in San Francisco and was a life-long resident of the Bay Area.
Kathleen worked as an insurance agent for over 50 years and founded Castro Insurance Services in 1986. She was a strong advocate on behalf of her clients, who were mostly struggling small business owners. In the 1970s, she did her part fighting for greater transparency from contractors, particularly when working with women.
Kathleen loved to dance, sing, and watch old movies. She also enjoyed shopping and working out.
Her family will remember her as a strong, independent woman, who was also intelligent, compassionate, and giving. She loved fiercely, and fought hard for those she cared about.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Patricia Perez, and her brother, Dominic Perez. She is survived by her loving children, Lisa Peterson (Greg Gaddis), Marcy Benner (Rob), and Anthony Cantu; grandchildren, Brianna, Morgynn, Bryson, and Abigail; 8 siblings, and many more dear family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to honor and remember Kathleen at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 859 Grant Ave., San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Kathleen will be laid to rest at a private service on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.
