Joseph Francis Costa entered into rest at the age of 93 in Modesto, CA on Monday, December 4, 2017. Joe was born on December 7, 1923 in Ripon, CA and was a resident of Modesto for 44 years.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria Costa and his brother John N. Costa. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Costa; his children, Susan Sigarroa, Pahrump, NV, and Linda Humphrey, Cambria, CA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ami Sigarroa, Manuel "Billy" Sigarroa, Nicole Oehmke, Garth Humphrey and Erin Humphrey and 10 great-grandchildren.
Joe enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. He enjoyed his 45 year career as an Agency Manager at State Farm Insurance prior to his retirement. His hobbies included golfing, reading and boating. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Franklin & Downs Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Costa Family. A visitation is scheduled from 4:00 – 6:00pm with a rosary beginning at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Avenue in Modesto. A chapel service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00am at Franklin & Downs with interment to follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery at 2:00pm.
