Jose Gomez, aged 52, was born December 12, 1968 to Jose Gomez Tavares and Maria Guadalupe Ortega Rodriguez in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico. He came to the United States and was placed in foster care with Alvaro and Rosa Ramirez in Yakima, Washington where he lived from ages 14 to 18 until he moved to Modesto, California. At the age of 19 he met his wife, Kelly Ann Smith, they married on October 14, 1990. Jose is survived by his wife and their four children: Israel Jesse Juarez, Jose Gomez Jr with his wife Emma, Emmanuel Gomez with his wife Jessica, and Esperanza Lydia Gomez. He is also survived by his three granddaughters: Melanie Jessica Juarez, Avery Grace Gomez, and Olivia Ann Gomez as well as his siblings Sofia Velazquez, Rosa Gomez, Jose Luis Gomez, and Martha Gomez.
Jose was a dedicated husband & father who instilled strong spiritual morals in his children. He devoted time in his family by supporting school sports and many family outings where they built many memories. He was the cook of his home as he also loved to eat. He was a handyman fixing his home and mechanic to vehicle needs. He was humble and sincere.
He loved his grandchildren dearly and looked forward to being with them as often as he could.
Jose was a steadfast man of God who loved to serve and worship. You would often find him at church services, revivals, prayers, and vigils. If it involved being in the presence of the Lord, he would never say no or that he was too busy because he knew what truly mattered. He had a very strong love and passion for God. His devotion was to reach many people through counseling, one on one prayers and outreach, particularly to the homeless and the lost. His outreach was not only local but also included various trips to Mexico where he would take food, necessities and to preach the word of God to families in need. Jose taught us how to have love and compassion for others and how to be a faithful servant of God. This was his legacy and his legacy will continue to live on through his family.
