John Richard Willinger

John Willinger passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 2, 2018. He was born and raised in Modesto, Ca. John graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto and Armstrong University in Berkley. John’s father started Willinger’s Automotive in 1945 and John took the reins over in 1963 and retired. 30 years later and went into full time farming and enjoying family life. John was in the Army National Guard in his early years and very involved in numerous organizations throughout his life including Knight of Columbus, Private Industry Council, Sunrise Rotary, Sportsman’s of Stanislaus, Stanislaus County Swiss Club, and the Old Fishermen’s Club, and loved volunteering. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Karen Kiernan Willinger, daughter Michelle Reilly (Phil) and their daughters Kaitlyn and Kendall, son Brian (Lynette) and their sons Jonathan and Jeremy, and great-grandson Levi. And many nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Olympia (AKA Pinkie) Willinger, his youngest daughter Kelley Ann, his sisters Evaline Curti, Jeanne Theobald, and Gladys Surina. Services will be Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, 505 West Granger Ave. Modesto, Ca. 95350 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity or Stanislaus County.
