Jeannette Arlene Roddy

Jeannette passed away at home on September 10, 2017 lovingly surrounded by family. Jeannette was born in Los Gatos, CA to Folke and Alice Floden, Swedish Immigrants. She grew up in Modesto and graduated from Modesto High School and then on to MJC to earn her degree. From an early age she loved to sing and became a soprano soloist at numerous events. She went on to direct many youth choirs in her community.
Jeannette was highly active in community services including: P.T.A. President, Salvation ArmyWomen's Auxiliary President, Salvation Army Youth director, served several times on Stanislaus County Grand Jury, as well as the Mayor's Crime Study Committee (5 yrs.).
Highly involved in social ministry for various churches in Modesto, Jeannette envisioned something even larger. She was the Director of the Firehouse, a teenage coffee house from 1968-1972. Following this endeavor, she became Assistant to the Minister at Emanuel Lutheran Church and Centenary Methodist Church.
By the early 1980's she became Director of Marketing and Sales for Bright Development and was their Interior Decorator for hundreds of their homes for 25+ years. She thoroughly enjoyed this position and established wonderful relationships.
Jeannette has always been a lover of animals, great and small. In her retired years, Jeannette would bring her beloved dogs Honey and Bambi to visit those in convalescent hospitals or retirement centers. Always an advocate for others, she didn't hesitate to speak up for those unable to speak for themselves. Jeannette had an incredible way of making everyone feel special and have a great time.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Roddy (Kathy), San Andreas, CA; daughters Carolyne Bilich (Ronnie), Modesto, CA, and Gigi Paolini (Ron), Kenwood, CA, and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin & Downs Funeral Home. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2017 from 5:30 – 8:30pm at Franklin & Downs, 1050 McHenry Ave. in Modesto. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Modesto Covenant Church, 913 Floyd Ave. in Modesto.
