Janet was born in Escanaba, Mich. to Arthur and Mae Carlson. After graduating from Escanaba H.S. she attended Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn., where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. While attending Nursing School, part of her training was to work in a rural hospital, which was located in Grand Rapids, MN. There she met her future husband, Jerry Lutterman. They were married in Escanaba, on June 20, 1960. They made their home in Grand Rapids, where their son Michael was born. After two years, they decided to move to Minneapolis so Jerry could complete his education. While there, Janet returned to Deaconess Hospital, where she was Head Nurse of the post op ward. After Jerry completed his education, they moved to Oconomowoc, WI, where Jerry started his career with Carnation Co. Their son Thomas was born here. A job transfer two years later took them to Hillsboro, OR, where their daughter Christine was born. A couple more job transfers found them in the Modesto area.
Throughout her life church was very important to Jan; she sang in the church choir as a little girl. At Emanuel Lutheran Church, she became a Stephens Minister care giver, and was very active in many other areas. She was an active member of the Modesto Area A’s Model A club as well as a member of the Oakdale Country Club, where she was an avid golfer enjoying many fun rounds with the Party Niners.
Most important to her was her family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, sons Michael (Gita) of Boise, ID, son Thomas(Shelly) of Riverbank, daughter Christine (Chris) Boody of Woodinville, WA, grandchildren Crystal Lutterman and Tyler and Nathan Boody, and sister Darlene (John) Trotter of Waukesha, WI.
The family would like to thank Golden Age Home Care, and especially Bella for the wonderful loving care she received. Jan was a resident there for nine months.
