James Francis Potter

James F. Potter entered into rest on March 29, 2018 at the age of 84 in Modesto, CA. He was born in Wahoo, Nebraska on January 24, 1934 to parents, Fred and Irma Potter and was a resident of Modesto for 42 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Anita McCarthy and John Potter. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Denise Potter; children, Jenny (Dave) Ford, Dan (Lisa) Potter, Debbie Luis, and Rick (Lisa) Potter; he also leaves behind nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Jim was a loving husband, father and Papa. He was adored by all of his family and will always be remembered for his contagious smile. Jim was a graduate of Oregon University where he played football and met his wife, Denise, of sixty years. He was the owner of Long Beach Sportfishing and eventually retired from Tri Valley Growers. His love of family was a tribute to his strong faith.
Franklin & Downs Funeral Home is honored to serve the Potter family. A Vigil will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 7pm at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, CA. A Mass will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 9:30am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Road, Modesto, CA. Donations may be made in James' honor to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
