Jacqueline Morrow Gianelli

May 16, 1929 ~ December 7, 2022 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Jacqueline Morrow Gianelli (“Jackie”) passed from this world on D-Day, December 7, 2022.

Jackie was born on May 16, 1929 in Stockton Ca. to Kelly and Margaret Morrow. As a little girl, Jackie had a difficult life. Jackie lost her father, Kelly and step-father, Ron, both at the age of 29. After her second husband died, Jackie’s mother, Margaret, and her two children moved in with Margaret’s parents.

Meanwhile, during the war, Margaret went to work for Sharp army depot, and the family was eventually able to buy a home on Poplar Street in Stockton with three bedrooms and 2 baths. To help the family, Jackie started working at a French Laundry when she was in eighth grade and at a clothing store in her sophomore year in high school. In her freshman year at College, she and her sorority sister, Louise Elliot, who became her lifelong friend, got a job in a peach cannery. She met a handsome young man at the cannery who started throwing peaches at her. She threw them right back and they soon fell in love. After two years, Bud Gianelli asked Jackie to marry him. They had three boys and spent 59 happy years of marriage together.

Jackie is survived by her three sons and daughters in law, Michael and Linda of Modesto, Jim and Barbara of Pacific Grove, Dave and Maureen of Modesto. Jackie is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Jeff of Wilmington, NC, Dana of Sonora, CA, Jon of Modesto, Matt of Watsonville, Joe of Santa Barbara, Patrick of Sacramento, Emily of Modesto and Katherine of San Francisco, and her eleven great-grandchildren (and still going) as well as nieces and nephews. Jackie’s brother Dan Morrow predeceased her.

Jackie made many friends during her life and easily made friends with most everyone she met. She loved people, and so many people loved her.

Jackie played tennis for many years, then golf and bridge at which she excelled. She was proud of her hole in one in golf. Jackie loved the time she spent with her family at the cabin that her grandfather built in Tahoe, all the times she and Bud spent together in Maui, Santa Cruz and in their many travels throughout the world.

Jackie and Bud had a tradition of taking their grandchildren on many of their travels, and all of the grandchildren still talk today about the great times they had with Papa Bud and Grandma Jackie.

Jackie was so proud of her family and in her later years just relished sharing time with them and bragging about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grandma Jackie died in peace surrounded by her family.

When Bud became sick and knew he was dying, he told Jackie in a letter that they would be together when time was no more. Time is no more and Bud now has his Jackie again.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Stratford at Beyer Park, Community Hospice and Provident Care for their love and support.

Jackie’s services will be with her family.  If you wish to honor her memory, please donate to a charity of your choice or to Community Hospice, Stanislaus Community Foundation, or Boys and Girls Club of Modesto.
