She was born in Ono Degno, Italy on March 26, 1924, to Gian Maria and Caterina Dusina. She married Lorenzo Dusi in 1948.

In 1955 they immigrated to the United States with four children. Thanks to the sponsorship of her sister Mary (Joe) Bacchetti. Their fifth child was born in Modesto while they were working on Primo Freddi’s ranch.

The family settled in downtown Modesto in 1958 close to St. Stanislaus Church, where she attended daily mass. Ida’s Catholic faith and her family were the most important aspects of her life.

She was an active member of the Italian Catholic Federation Branch #48 and St. Stanislaus Church.

Ida continued her career as a seamstress having many clients who became longtime friends. She especially enjoyed sewing and knitting for her family. Each person received unique, personalized items.

She was also a seasonal cannery worker for Stanislaus Foods until she retired.

Ida enjoyed cooking rustic traditional foods from Ono Degno. She loved cooking polenta, gnocchi, frittatas, pasta, and biscotti for her family and friends. If you stopped by unexpectedly, she would have food on the table in no time.
