Hildelisa Mejia-Favela

Hildelisa Mejia Favela passed away peacefully on September 13, 2020, at the age of 79 in Modesto, CA. Hilde was born December 24, 1940, to parents Eustaquio Mejia and Teresa Favela, in Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico. Hilde leaves behind her daughter, Maria Teresa Ruiz, and her son-in-law, Alan. Hilde was a loving Grandmother to Alan(Oni), Astrid (Mitzelita), Alexa (Marie), and Andrew (Eustice) Ruiz; they lovingly called her Nani.  

Hilde will always be remembered for her generosity; she was always wanting to give to everyone and would never expect anything in return. She brought laughter and love with her wherever she went. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading books, and eating lots of sweets (especially chocolate). However, her favorite thing to do was to be a grandma “Nani” to her grandchildren and create lasting memories with all of them. She enjoyed getting to see them grow up and form families of their own.

She was a devoted teacher and principal, always having a passion for sharing her knowledge with those around her, many lovingly called her “profesora” or professor, as she left a lasting impact on the many students she taught throughout her years. She had a great joy for teaching which then carried over to the family and led to many more educators including her Daughter, Maria, and Granddaughter, Astrid. 

The family will honor Hilde’s memory in a private ceremony at a later date with a celebration of her life. The family also would like to thank the staff at Casa De Modesto for their care and compassion.

Hildelisa Mejia Favela falleció tranquilamente el 13 de septiembre de 2020 a la edad de 79 años en Modesto, CA. Hilde nació el 24 de diciembre de 1940 de padres Eustaquio Mejía y Teresa Favela, en Guasave, Sinaloa, México. Hilde deja a su hija, María Teresa Ruiz, y a su yerno, Alan. Hilde fue una abuela cariñosa para Alan (Oni), Astrid (Mitzelita), Alexa (Marie) y Andrew (Eustice) Ruiz; cariñosamente la llamaron Nani.

Hilde siempre será recordada por su generosidad; ella siempre deseaba ayudar a todos y nunca esperaba nada a cambio. Llevaba la alegria y el amor con ella dondequiera que iba. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba de cuidar su jardin, leer libros y comer muchos dulces (especialmente chocolate). Sin embargo, lo que más le gustaba era ser una abuela "Nani" para sus nietos y crear recuerdos duraderos con todos ellos. Disfrutaba verlos crecer y formar sus propias familias.

Fue una maestra y directora dedicada, siempre teniendo una pasión por compartir su conocimiento con quienes la rodeaban, muchos la llamaban cariñosamente profesora, ya que dejó un impacto duradero en muchos estudiantes que enseñó a lo largo de sus años. Tenía una gran alegría por la enseñanza que trasmitio a la familia. 

La familia honrará la memoria de Hilde en una ceremonia privada con una celebración de su vida. La familia también desea agradecer al personal de Casa De Modesto por su cuidado y compasión.
