Eleanor Rose Tharp

Eleanor Rose Tharp, 76, entered into rest in Modesto, CA on Monday May 15, 2017. She was born on June 28, 1940 in Montreal, Canada and has been a resident of Modesto for 49 years. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lillian Pover, and her loving husband of 40 years, Thearon T. Tharp. Eleanor is survived by her five children: Darrell E. Tharp, Denett L. Johnson, Thearon E. Tharp, Kimberly R. Davis, and Charles S. Tharp; she is further remembered through more grandchildren and great grandchildren than you can shake a stick at as well as one beautiful great-great grandchild! She enjoyed playing bingo with friends and quilting as well. She was a proud and active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 1:00-4:00PM with a service immediately following at 4:00PM at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home's McHenry Chapel located at 1050 McHenry Avenue in Modesto. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held immediately after services at the VFW Post 3199 located 2801 W. Hatch Road in Modesto, CA. Eleanor will be laid to rest with her husband at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA.
