Dwight Cathcart

Dwight Cathcart, a longtime resident of Ceres, CA, passed away on November 21, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born in Lamanda Park, CA on January 4, 1924, to the late Thuerl and Laura Cathcart. He was one of seven children. Dwight served our country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943, where he was a Motor Machinist, class 3 during WWII. Dwight married his wife Dorothy M. Loran in 1946; they were married for 56 years prior to her passing. Together they had four children. He owned D.L Cathcart Asphalt Seal Coating in Ceres, CA for more than 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed building RC Airplanes. He is a past IMAA Representative and Chapter 10 President- Quarter Scale Modeler Member AMA Turlock RC Club-Merced RC Club. He was also an avid fisherman.
Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and three brothers. He leaves behind his sister, Barbara Large of Washington; His four children, Linda (James) Rutledge of Washington, Charles (Sandy) Cathcart of Oregon, Dennis (Sandy) Cathcart of Ceres, CA and Dale (Cheryl) Cathcart of Waterford, CA; Twelve grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing will take place at Franklin & Downs Ceres Chapel: 2561 5th Street Ceres, CA on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5PM – 8PM. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11AM at Ceres Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin & Downs Funeral Home.
