Douglas Bunch

Douglas A. Bunch,90, died in his home on May 29, 2022.  He was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma on February 26, 1932, the fourth child of Denver and Maggie Bunch.  His family left Oklahoma and settled in Modesto around 1946. Doug graduated from Ceres High School and then Modesto Jr. College before entering the U.S. Army in 1952, in which he served two years before returning to Modesto.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline, better known as Mickie, whom he shared 48 years of marriage, as well as his brothers George and James Bunch and his sister Jean Illick.  He is survived by his two daughters, Trina Trimble of Tucson, AZ, and Bunnie Ibrahim of Modesto.  He is also survived by his sister Alma Clark of Modesto, his two granddaughters Michele Trimble of Tucson, AZ and Amina Ibrahim of Modesto as well as two great grandsons, Brian and Adam Hoover.

Doug worked for the California Department of Transportation for over 35 years, retiring in 1992.  During retirement he enjoyed restoring old cars and sharing them with other enthusiasts at valley car shows. 

In his later years, his greatest joy was sitting in his opened garage with a cup of coffee and visiting with neighbors as they took walks or just came over to visit with him.  He made many new and valued friends over coffee.  Enjoying visits over coffee was also a family tradition.   Many generations of Bunches have met early every Sunday morning for over 50 years to spend time together and share news over a cup of coffee. It was a way to stay connected with family, and Doug valued family above all else. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
