Dorothy Grace Haberer

Dorothy G. Haberer passed peacefully into the waiting arms of Jesus on the morning of January 6, 2022, at the age of 95. She was born November 9,1926, to Herman and Irene Lossau in Indiana. She was the youngest of 6 children. She spent her early childhood on the farm in Indiana before her family moved to Chicago. She married William (Bill) Haberer on December 21, 1946. They enjoyed 59 years of laughter & love before he passed in 2005. When their children were young, they relocated from Chicago to Southern California.

Dorothy was a devout Christian and a woman of strong faith. She spent much time studying the Bible and praying for those around her. She was deemed a "prayer warrior" in the end of her life because most of her time was spent praying. She held many jobs in her lifetime: candy shop worker, bank teller, tailor, dietary aid, swim instructor, and missionary. Dorothy also enjoyed many hobbies over the years including swimming, sewing, painting, crocheting, crafts, playing board games and telling stories to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 siblings. She is survived by her three children: Mark (Deb) Haberer, Irene (Dave) Feaver,  and Dave (Kathy) Haberer; six grandchildren: Leah, Patricia, Andrew, Nicole, Andrea, and Bethany; as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Modesto Covenant Church on January 29th at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Modesto Covenant Missions.
