Donnajean Kabella
Apr 24, 1942 - Sep 26, 2018
Donnajean Kabella was born on April 24th, 1942 in Chicago Illinois, only child to Walter and Ina Jeppesen and died September 26th 2018 in Modesto California, from a worn out, much used heart.
She met her husband George, a fellow student at Augustana College who she married in 1964 in Brookfield Illinois before moving to Modesto in January 1969. Met with record high temperatures and with an overheated basset hound and son Mark in tow, they planted their roots.
Donnajean completed coursework in Computer Science at MJC in the 1980's before becoming an instructor at Valley Commercial College. Her generous spirit, love and care for others led her to actively volunteer with Doctors Hospital, CASA and LARC as well as participating in fundraising efforts as a member of Sylvan Club and Elks. Camp Fire Leader, Teacher and Class Mom, she touched many lives in our community and was an involved and loving mother to Mark and Leann.
Donnajean exuded genuine love and kindness and often entertained friends and family, including her 40 plus year run of monthly gourmet group dinners. Her cookies had legendary status which earned her the nickname 'Donnajean the Cookie Queen'. Her love of animals, reading, volunteering, hiking and yoga as well as extensive travels to places near and far filled her days with joy. Sea Ranch and Northern California were places she held dear. She loved her family very much and enjoyed frequent gatherings in Berkeley with her son Mark, daughter-in-law Sabrina and grandchildren Zylen and Sam, along with daughter Leann and a large circle of extended family and friends. Donnajean's exceptional style and grace was reflected her home and surroundings and her beauty and loving spirit shone inside and out. Donnajean is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and by those who knew her.
