Donald Reid

Donald Reid was born October 4, 1941 in Tempe, Arizona to David and Levetus Reid. Donald passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Modesto CA, at the age of 80 years old.

While growing up, Donald attended Percy L. Julian Elementary School (Phoenix, AZ). As a teenager, he moved with his family to Corona, California.  While attending high school, Donald worked as a landscaper alongside his father and brothers. After graduating from high school, he attended college in California and Oregon before starting his 37-year career as a civil engineer with the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

He was a faithful member of the Greater Maranatha Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Terrance L. Saffold, Sr. Donald was a true bible scholar. He found peace and joy in studying the word of God. For several years, he taught a weekly men’s Bible Study Fellowship class. 

He enjoyed traveling and good food. Donald loved his family and often drove to Southern California and Arizona to visit with them. He and his longtime companion, Climmy, often traveled together. Some of their destinations included the Bahamas, Catalina, Mexico, New York, Puerto Rico, Seattle, Virgin Islands and Washington DC.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents as well as his siblings Michael, Edward, Jack, Sharon and Jackie.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Momma Bessie; children Donald Jr., Eric, Candy, Kirsten and LaTonya; grandchildren KaTryce, LaTryce, Kyisha, Naziah, Maliyah, Aliyah, Keith Lance, Nikiya, Timiya, and Jordan; siblings David Jr., Kenneth, Clifford, Marvin, Anthony, McKinley, Darryl, Chris, Randy, Jerry, Phillip, Elsie, Patricia, Janet, Michelle, Barbara and Vicki; extended family Danye’, Randy and Mia Bernal, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Donald will be deeply missed by his family, friends and loved ones.
