Donald Lee Jones

Donald Lee Jones was born in Kansas on March 6, 1945 to Arthur Schofield and Clara Jones. Don was later adopted by his stepfather Elvin Jones. 

Don was a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. When he was Honorably discharged he chose to remain in Southern California where he had been stationed. He soon began his own welding company where he spent many hours working on the oil platforms in the Pacific Ocean. After being his own boss he decided to become a truck driver for JB Hunt where he retired.

Don met his wife Virginia at Crocodiles in Modesto where they enjoyed many hours dancing the night away. Don was quite the dancer! They enjoyed traveling together and one of their favorite memories is when they were in Branson, MO dancing away when everyone gladly let Don have the floor. He was spinning on his hand and twirling all around. When he finished he received a standing ovation from the other patrons. Even the legendary Mel Tillis came over to shake Don's hand.

Don also enjoyed playing the keyboard and his harmonica.

Don's dependable and kind heart and his love for his cats will be greatly missed. 

He was a wonderful husband who spoiled and loved his wife immensely.

A visitation will be held December 2,2022 at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home from 11:30am-1:00pm then immediately following will be  a graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, CA.
