Donald Richard Fairchilds passed away on October 21, 2018 in Modesto, CA at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Herzer. He is also preceded in death by his parents, John and Ada Fairchilds and son, John Fairchilds. Donald is survived by his children: Barry Schroder of Modesto, Becky Bastian of Los Angeles, Chris Fairchilds and Tim Fairchilds, both of Modesto and stepchildren, Martin Herzer and Jan O’Conner; his first wife, Isabelle Sapington, grandchildren: Melissa Watson, Julie Hildebrand and Blake, Tylor, Garr, Donald and Jared Fairchilds; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Don lived in Modesto his whole life, recently residing independently with his dog, best pal Harry, and lots of nearby family and friends. He was a proud and honest man with a great sense of humor. Always there for his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors whether he was fishing, hunting, gardening, or just floating around in the pool. He also enjoyed the Giants, 49ers and watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. He was a freemason, Rotarian, and worked in collections for 40 years where he retired as Treasurer Tax Collector in 1995. Don had many friends in Modesto and throughout. He will be missed by all.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00PM at Acacia Memorial Park, 801 Scenic dr, Modesto, CA. A reception will follow at the Masonic Center of Modesto, 800 Rose Ave, Modesto, CA.
