Derald Noel Hawkes

Derald Noel Hawkes, 83, of Modesto, California, passed away on April 17, 2022, surrounded by family.
Born to Derald and Helen Hawkes, on December 3, 1938, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Derald was formally educated at Bellarmine College Preparatory, San Jose, and was a devout life-long reader, and self-educated in many areas. 
Derald was married to Barbara Miller, in 1960. He is survived by sisters Noreen and Sharon, his 7 children (Denny, Teri, Robby, Ronnie, Cyndi, Johny, & Debi) and 12 grandchildren. Derald was predeceased by parents Derald and Helen Hawkes, and sister Anne Hawkes
Derald was known for his dry and corny sense of humor. He was very personable and loved talking to people, commanding attention in most gatherings. He was a wine aficionado which paired perfectly with his love to cook. Derald was an avid animal lover, who adored his endless supply of poodles. As a Navy brat, Derald left Honolulu 3 days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Of the many places he lived, he loved Seattle, WA the most.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, 9:30am at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Modesto. Burial will follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, Modesto. A celebration of life will be held afterward.
