Charles White

Charles F. White Jr III peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the age of 74 in Salida, California.   

Charles was born on September 10, 1946 in Makati, Philippines to the late Charles Francis White Jr II of Buckeystown, MD and Susana Celis White of Makati, Philippines.  As a young man, he enlisted in the US Army serving in Vietnam.  After Vietnam, Charles continued his enlistment and was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan, Augsburg, Germany, the DMZ S. Korea, plus numerous stateside bases to include Schofield Barracks, HI, Ft. Hood, TX, Ft. Riley, KS, and Ft. Ord, CA before retiring from the US Army in 1986.

He ultimately settled in Salida, California and started his second government career with the US Postal Service as a mail handler for 22 years. After finally retiring for the second time from the US Government, Charles and the love of his life, Rosita, packed up and bought their dream home in Eva Beach, HI. 

Retirement did not slow Charles down.  He and Rosita lived the retirement dream of traveling, active in numerous organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, and the Filipino American Association. Charles enjoyed cooking, going to the casino, and spending time with family and his grandchildren. One of his favorite activities that he absolutely LOVED was to dance, especially ballroom dancing.  He was witty, charming, funny, and had an infectious laugh. He is quoted as being “wonderfully kind” and treated everyone with generous hospitality and love.  

Charles is survived by his bride of 54 years, Rosita Pasion White, his three children, Annabelle (White) Thomas Williams, her husband Tylon Williams and their children Clairice Contevita Solomon, husband Eric Solomon, Ethan Thomas, and Philip Thomas.  Michelle White Tung, her husband Anthony Tung, their children Audrey Tung, Sarina Tung Brown, husband Thomas Brown and Olivia Tung.  Charles Jr. his partner Nancy Serrato, their children Vivianna White and Marcus Serrato.  Siblings Robert White, his wife Jeanne White, their children Joanna White, her husband Kalani Conn, and Julia White.  Jennifer White Matthews, her husband Wayne Matthews, their children Leo Matthews and LaTanya Matthews.  Charles will also be missed by his many cousins, nieces and nephews local to the SF Bay Area, around the USA and Philippines.
