Bonnie Cherie Griffith

August 23, 1949 ~ January 31, 2020 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Tribute

Bonnie Cherie Griffith of San Rafael, CA was born August 23,

1949 in San Francisco and went Home to be with Jesus January 31, 2020 while in Modesto, CA surrounded by family.

The only child of Robert (Bob) & Irene Griffith, Bonnie was loved and adored by her parents and grandmother, Annie LaChapelle. The family lived in San Francisco for many years and then moved to San Rafael in the mid 90s. Bonnie was a loving and devoted daughter as she cared for her parents until they passed in 2002 and 2004.

She graduated from San Francisco State in the early 1970’s with a degree in biology.

She worked for the US Forest Service. She loved the redwoods of Humboldt County and spoke fondly of her experiences in the wilderness ie. Fern Canyon, Redwood National and State Parks, and Lady Bird Johnson Grove. These experiences gave her a great appreciation of the beauty that surrounded her and a deeper love for the Creator.

During the 80s until 2001 Bonnie worked for the Department of Toxic Substances Control as a Hazardous Materials Specialist where she inspected hazardous waste generators and permitted hazardous waste sites. She was considered to be an excellent inspector and was extremely knowledgable regarding the regulations.
When California implemented the Certified Unified Program Agency program, put in place to assist the California Environmental Protection Agency, Bonnie trained all City and County of San Francisco inspectors on how to conduct hazardous waste inspections.

In 2001 Bonnie began working at University of California San Francisco becoming a Department Safety Advisor inspecting laboratories. Bonnie was a no nonsense inspector, had a love for science, and enjoyed supporting the research efforts at UCSF.

Bonnie loved to garden and planted tomatoes every spring. Her love of roses grew as did the number of plants in her yard. Bonnie loved sharing her knowledge of plants and flowers with her neighbors and others. She adopted two feral cats that she was able to tame and love. She was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49er fan.

Bonnie will be missed by her extended family as well as friends whom she knew for a short time and those she'd known for years. We'll see you at the meeting place Bonnie, at Jesus' feet.
