Arthur Albert Martin

Arthur A. Martin, 75, passed away in Modesto on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 with family close at side. He was born in Los Angeles on May 13, 1942 and grew up there. Arthur married his loving wife Katherine E. Kennedy on June 19, 1971; their children together included Jeff Kent-Schneider, Daniel, and Sarah. Art has one sibling, his brother Laurence H. Martin. Art is preceded in death by both of his parents, Laurence B. Martin, a successful Los Angeles attorney, and his beloved mother Winifred Huntington. Arthur served honorably in the US Army for both active duty and in the reserves where he attained the rank of Captain. Art began his 45-year real estate career while in Whittier, CA in 1970. In 1978, Art and Kay moved to Modesto where Art began work at Wolverine Real Estate and met his lifelong friend and work associate John Williams. In 1982, he started work for Paul M Zagaris where he specialized in commercial real estate for the rest of his career. He also served as a Modesto Planning Commissioner, a member of the Board of Zoning Adjustment, and as a Modesto City Council member. Art cared deeply about his family and friends. He was a very generous man and provided a wonderful life for his family. He was always very friendly, warm, and was known to have a great sense of humor.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2:30pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home McHenry Chapel located at 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, CA 95350.
