Tony Hinostroza III

March 2, 1973 ~ November 25, 2018 (age 45)

 

Deputy Sheriff, Antonio Hinostroza passed away in the line of duty on November 25, 2018.  He was born on March 2, 1973, in Sonora, CA.  Antonio is survived by his mother Gloria Casas of Modesto, his sons Michael Hinostroza of Modesto and Steven Hinostroza of Ceres; siblings Carlos Vasquez (Katy) of Clovis, CA, Albert Vasquez, of Walnut Creek, CA and Sonia Tosado of Torrence, CA. 

Antonio known as “Tony” by all who knew and loved him, served in the United States Marine Corps, four years active duty and four years as a reserve. Sgt. Antonio Hinostroza III was with the Security Force Company, 
Sebana Seca, Puerto Rico, Anti-Terrorism Naval Intelligence, Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Capable Camp Pendleton, California, 1st Battalion 9th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marines Division, Amphibious Assault Company, Scout Swimmer Platoon. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Pistol Expert Service Badge, Rifle Marksman Badge, and numerous Certificates of commendation and appreciation.


When he returned home from his military service, he began his career in law enforcement as a reserve police officer and dispatcher for the city of Waterford, prior to joining the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Sheriff Hinostroza was a 19-year veteran with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s department. During his career, he served as a patrol deputy, K9 handler, Gang Detective, SWAT team member, and Field Training Officer. Deputy Sheriff Hinostroza, received many commendations, accolades and letters of gratitude in his service, along with awards for vehicle theft recovery, known as the “10851,” award presented by the California Highway Patrol. Tony was devoted to our community and our country; he served with integrity, honor, and valor.


Franklin & Downs Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hinostroza Family.   Scheduled services are as follows: Vigil Services are on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 4-7 PM with the Rosary at 6:00 PM at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home, 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 1813 Oakdale Road Modesto, CA.  A Funeral Service in Memory of Tony’s life is on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at 10:00 AM at The House Church, located at 1601 Coffee Road, Modesto, CA.  Committal Services will follow funeral services at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA.   www.franklindownsfuneralhome.com/
