Alzira B. Rocha December 28, 1943 – April 12, 2021 Alzira Borba Rocha, born on December 28, 1943, in Ladeira Grande, Terceira, Azores, to Antonio and Emilia Castro, and passed away peacefully Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jose Augusto Rocha, her parents and siblings: Adelaide Castro (Terceira), Lourdes Couto (Terceira), Maria Lopes (Terceira), John Castro (Tracy). She is also survived by her three children: Joe (Betty) Rocha of Modesto, Angela (Steve) Herrera of Turlock, and John (Debbie) Rocha of Ceres. She had 7 grandchildren: Victoria Garcia Galarza (TX), Sabrina Rodriguez (WA), Joseph, Johnathan and Benjamin Rocha (Modesto), Nicholas and Emma Rocha (Ceres). She also leaves behind two living siblings: Antonio (Shirley) Castro of Modesto and Avelina Gaspar (Terceira). Alzira was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She not only helped raise her grandchildren, but others that she grew close to her. She was a committed Catholic who practiced her faith as a part of her everyday life. Baking was one thing she loved to do and was known for her seamstress skills. She spent much time sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting over the years, as well as making rosaries for the church. She was young at heart, patient and had a strong work ethic. Her love for life showed in her generosity to family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
