On October 30, 2021, our father gained his wings and went to be with the love of his life in
heaven. Alejo Romero S. passed away at home surrounded by his family. A beloved father,
husband, brother and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
Alejo was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on April 8, 1938 to Lucio and Elvira Romero. He was
raised in a large and loving family. Alejo grew up with a strong work ethic. He later met his
loving wife Francisca Castellanos. They were married in March of 1969 and relocated to
Modesto, California. They were married for 51 years and together they raised four children,
Veronica McCabe (Dennis), Elizabeth Shirley (Jay), Yvette Padilla (Juan), and Alex Romero.
Alejo was a diligent worker and for many years he worked in farm labor bearing the fierce
winters and hot summers. Later, in the early 1980’s, he was hired at Tri-Valley Grower Plant #7,
which later became known as Seneca Foods. He was a loyal and committed employee for over
35 years until he retired at the age of 62. Alejo was a man of faith and attended St. Jude’s
Catholic Church with his family and grandchildren. His love of the Catholic Church was
rediscovered in his mid forties when he and his wife attended the Cursillo retreat. Both were
involved in volunteering and encouraging others to attend. Alejo loved his family more than
anything and loved firing up the grill for Sunday family BBQs.
Alejo had many friends. Later in life he discovered a CB club which he later became a member
of. He loved attending the CB conventions with his wife and he made many new friends who
lived many miles away. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He gave his
unconditional love and support to his four children and wife. As his children grew and married,
he focused on his wife. Together they would travel to their home in Mexico and visit family.
Our family is devastated by the loss of our father, but are grateful for the many years we had
here on this Earth. We feel very blessed to have called him our Father.
Alejo is survived by his four children, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his sons
in-law, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Francisca
C. Romero and his parents Lucio and Elvira Romero. He will be forever missed, but never
forgotten.
Funeral services are as follows: Tuesday, November 16, 2021 a visitation will be held at Franklin
and Downs from 4-7 PM with a rosary at 5. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint
Stanislaus Catholic Church on J Street at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021
